Sustainable Food Initiative
Research for achieving a systemic leap in sustainable food processing in order to be able to meet future demand for sustainable healthy and safe food.
The Sustainable Food Initiative, shaped by the golden triangle (food businesses, knowledge institutions and government), contributes to the ambitions of the Secretary of State in the area of innovation, sustainability and economic reinforcement as pointed out in the final statement of the Food Summit.
The initiative aims at research for achieving a systemic leap in sustainable food processing in order to be able to meet future demand for sustainable healthy and safe food. This includes research on reducing footprint, circulating food production, reducing waste in the chain and at the consumer and supporting consumers in making a healthy and sustainable choice. Within the initiative, attention is also paid to the rapid introduction of innovations in the market, oa through start-ups, an important area of attention of the State Secretary.
The initiators, Unilever, Wageningen UR and, the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology, have chosen Wageningen UR’s campus as a physical hub where researchers and innovators from all over the world will work together to innovate.
